Incheon Airport to Seoul: AREX Train, Bus and Taxi Options Compared
Short answer: The AREX airport railroad is the usual way into central Seoul. The non-stop Express Train runs to Seoul Station in about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and about 51 minutes from Terminal 2, and the All-Stop Train takes about 59 and 66 minutes (VisitKorea). Airport buses go to many parts of Seoul, and taxis suit groups or late arrivals. Most public transport to central Seoul stops around 23:30, so late arrivals need a night bus or a taxi.
One limit on this guide: the AREX website’s fare and timetable pages returned server errors when this guide was checked, so current AREX fares could not be read from the operator. No AREX prices are given below. Check arex.or.kr or the airport hotline before you go.
Options at a glance
| Option | Time to central Seoul | Good for | Fare |

| Taxi | Depends on traffic and destination | Groups, heavy luggage, late arrivals | Metered; see rules below |
Times are approximate to Seoul Station and come from the VisitKorea airport page, last updated 22 May 2026. The airport’s own Terminal 2 route map lists about 66 minutes to Seoul Station on the all-stop line.
AREX: Express vs All-Stop
AREX has two services. The Express Train is non-stop. The All-Stop Train makes more stops, including Gimpo Airport and Hongik University. Both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have a transit center on basement level 1 with exits, information desks and ticket machines (airport page). The Airport Railroad hotline is 1599-7788.
This guide could not read the current fare tables, first and last train times or train frequency on the official AREX pages, so confirm those there. Search results showed different fares on different AREX pages, which is another reason not to rely on a figure from a blog.
Airport buses
VisitKorea says airport limousine buses link Incheon with many parts of Korea. Cash and transportation cards are not accepted on those buses, so you must buy a ticket in advance. At Terminal 1, ticket offices are on the 1st floor, inside and outside the terminal. At Terminal 2 there is a staffed office and a ticket machine on B1 at the Transportation Center.
The airport lists Seoul routes including 6001 (Dongdaemun), 6002 (Cheongnyangni Station), 6005 (Seoul City Hall), 6007 (Yeouido), 6701 (City Hall/Gwanghwamun), 6703 (Gangnam/COEX) and 6705 (Jamsil). The pages checked did not give daytime fares, travel times or intervals for these. Ask the operators: Airport Limousine 02-2664-9898, Korea Airport Limousine 02-2667-0386, or the Seoul bus call center 02-120. The airport suggests allowing 1 to 2 hours for immigration and baggage when you buy a ticket for a set departure.
Late-night buses from Terminal 1
The airport page lists these N routes, with fares as shown on the airport page (checked 3 November 2026):
| Route | Destination | Time from T1 | Adult / child (KRW) |
|---|---|---|---|
| N6000 | Gangnam Express Bus Terminal | About 70 min | 17,000 / 10,000 |
| N6002 | Cheongnyangni | About 90 min | 18,000 / 12,000 |
| N6701 | Dongdaemun Design Plaza | About 70 min | 18,000 / 12,000 |
| N6703 | Gwangnaru Station area | About 85 min | Page lists a Songjeong Station fare of 10,000 / 6,000 |
Buses leave from Terminal 1, 1F. N6701 and N6703 use stop 3B; N6000, N6001 and N6002 use stop 6A. Buy tickets at booths or machines. N6002 and N6701 also accept the Tmoney GO app. Departure times are on the airport page.
Taxis
According to the airport’s taxi page, standard taxis and deluxe taxis wait at the taxi platform outside the waiting areas of Terminals 1 and 2. Payment is by cash, credit card or transportation card.
- Standard taxi in Seoul: base fare 4,800 won, then metered.
- Deluxe/Jumbo (9-seater): base fare 7,000 won.
- International and Smart taxis: foreign-language support; the page says a flat fare applies in Seoul but gives no amount. International taxis require advance reservation (1644-2255).
- Boundary surcharge: none for trips from the airport to Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo or Bucheon.
- Night surcharge, standard taxi in Seoul or Incheon: 20% from 22:00 to 23:00, 40% from 23:00 to 02:00, 20% from 02:00 to 04:00.
The page does not give a typical fare to central Seoul and does not mention tolls, so ask the driver or the taxi desk about the expected total.
Quick checklist
- Which terminal are you in (T1 or T2)? Times differ by terminal.
- Is your destination near an AREX station, or does a bus stop closer?
- Arriving after about 23:30? Plan a night bus or taxi.
- Buying a limousine bus ticket in advance, since cash and cards are not accepted on board?
- Checked current AREX fares and times on arex.or.kr?
Common mistakes
- Using a travel-time figure from a blog instead of the official page.
- Heading for the bus stop for the wrong terminal.
- Reaching Seoul late with no plan after trains and buses stop.
- Assuming the cheapest option is also the nearest to your hotel.
This guide is general information. Fares, routes and schedules change, so confirm them with Incheon Airport, AREX or the bus operator before you travel.
